COMMUNITY SERVICE is a category where all of our members work hard to improve all aspects of our Kihei community. Here are the projects completed during the 2010-11 Rotary year AND WE RECEIVED FIRST PLACE IN THIS DIVISION:
- DSG Grant received for the Andy and Elmer Apple Dumpling Adventure project with 2nd graders
- Hawaiian Humpback Whale Sanctuary Campus Beautification project
- Donation of 10 book cases to Hawaiian Humpback Whale Sanctuary
- Rotary Gives Thanks - Conducted two Food Drives for Maui Food Bank
- Rotaract Involvement - 9 members of Rotaract assisted at our Hale Kau Kau Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser; in return for their work, contributed funds towards expenses for them to attend District Conference
- Keiki Kupboard Project - after holding a successful school supply drive and providing additional funding, one club member works with KK staff to monitor and supply the Kupboards at two elementary schools
- Book case and books presented to children at Kihei Youth Center, along with RC of Kihei Wailea
- Adopt-A-Highway - held three highway clean-ups of our 2-mile section of North Kihei Road
- Health/Hunger - Adopted a family of six for the holidays providing $1000 in food and gift coupons plus a seven foot Christmas tree.
- Participated in South Maui Children and Youth Day Faire, interactive game booth and presented 1000 books to children with RC of Kihei Wailea
- Two fundraisers for projects: Sunset/Moonlight Cruise (September) and Whale Watch and Snorkel Cruise (February)
- Organized marching unit for Whale Day Parade with two other Maui Clubs
- Brainstorming Needs Activity for projects for the 2011-12 Rotary year
